Revolving Doors

David Cameron

A short list of our former Prime Minister’s jobs since leaving office:

David Cameron faces lobbying ban in new commercial roles … (bbc.co.uk).  David Cameron has been told he cannot lobby ministers as a condition of him taking on a number of commercial roles. The former prime minister has become a paid consultant to life-sciences firm Illumina and vice-chairman of a new UK-China …

Cameron’s working for BONO at ONE, thus getting right into Philanthro-klepto-capitalism like his predecessors. On the Board of One are directors from Bill and Melinda Gates foundation and Soros Open Society.

But Cameron is just one among hundreds. The public sector is a stepping stone to the private sector where the real power lies. Linsey McGoey is very good on this topic: https://www.versobooks.com/books/2344-no-such-thing-as-a-free-gift

She has a new book out next year on Strategic Ignorance – The Unknowers – perfect description of Amber Rudd’s current strategy.

Cameron’s Alzheimers UK role was approved by head of ACOBA Baroness Browning, whom he hired, who just happens to also be a director of Alzheimers UK. (One wonders if these really are charities or masonic mega-looting machines.)

He appointed the woman who is supposed to police the revolving door knowing full well she would be dealing with his case.

As for  Chadlington and the Ireland based UK-China fund, Chadlington’s real name is Gummer, his daughter Naomi was Hunt’s Spad and is now in charge of Public Affairs for Google.

Browning was a Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in John Major’s second term not long after Chadlington’s brother John Selwyn Gummer (the one with the burger) ran the ministry.

More scrutiny and a constant awareness of the revolving door is needed to understand how the power really works.
